Regulator actions, published the day we detect them

Every story here begins as a difference between what a broker says about its licence and what the regulator’s own register shows. We check daily, we write it up the day the difference appears, and we link the register entry so you can read it yourself.

One caveat worth reading: a transition records a change in our result, which is not always a change at the regulator. A broker moving to “verified” can mean its licence was confirmed for the first time because we became able to read a claim we previously could not — not that anything changed on the register. Those are gains in our own coverage, not regulatory events, so they are never published as news. What runs here is the other kind: a licence withdrawn, restricted, or no longer corroborated by the register.

Nothing has changed at a regulator since we started watching.

We check every broker we track against the regulators’ own registers each day, and we publish a story the same day we detect a change. Since monitoring began, every check has found each licence in the state the register showed the day before. So there is nothing to report, and we would rather say that than fill the page.

Our own coverage has improved in that time — we can now read claims we previously could not — but a gain in what we can check is not a regulator acting. It is not news, and it will not appear here.

What gets published here

  • A regulator withdraws, suspends or restricts a licence a broker relies on.
  • A licence we had confirmed stops matching the register entry behind it.
  • A broker cites a licence that a working register does not corroborate.
