How Money Grows Over Time: The Power of Investing

Why people invest, how different investments work, and how to think about growing your money with Investfora.

Why money sits still and what happens when it doesn't

Money in a savings account earns very little. If you keep cash under your mattress, it earns nothing at all. Over months and years, this matters far more than most people realise. The longer you leave money to sit, the more you miss out simply by not putting it anywhere.

This is why people invest. When you invest money, you put it to work. A bank borrows your money and pays you interest on it. A business borrows from you to grow, and pays you back with interest. When you buy an asset—a share, a cryptocurrency, a commodity—you own something that may change in value.

Investfora lets you choose what your money does. You decide which investments to make, how much to put into each one, and for how long. Nothing happens until you tell it to. Once you transfer euros into your Investfora account, that money is yours to direct.

How growth works: three different ways

The simplest form of growth is interest. You lend money to a bank or a business for a set time at a rate agreed upfront. They pay you interest in return. Each day the money sits there, you earn a small amount. When the term ends, you get your original money back plus all the interest you have earned.

The second way is when something you own increases in value. If you buy a share and the company does well, the share may be worth more. If you buy cryptocurrency and the market price rises, your holding is worth more. You can then sell it for more than you paid. This kind of growth is not certain. Values can go down as well as up, and you may get back less than you put in.

The third way combines both. When you lend to a business through Investfora's lending marketplace, you earn interest on your loan, and the business has already told you the rate and the term. You know what you will earn.

The difference between saving and investing

Saving means setting money aside. You might save to buy something specific, to cover an emergency, or simply to have it there. Saving is safe but slow. Your money does not disappear, but it grows very little.

This difference matters. If you need the money in three months, do not invest it. If you need it in five years and you can afford to lose some of it, investing may make sense. The longer you leave invested money alone, and the more comfortable you are with the idea that it might go down as well as up, the more investing makes sense for you.

Investfora offers both. Fixed-term deposits are close to saving: you know what you get back. Lending to businesses carries more risk but also the chance of better returns. Crypto and trading are more volatile—the value changes more and more often. You choose how much risk you want to take and in what.

What Investfora's four investment types do

Fixed-term deposits are money you place with a European bank for an agreed term at a rate set upfront. The bank pays you interest. Every bank listed on Investfora is authorised in Europe, so the money is covered by that country's deposit-guarantee scheme up to one hundred thousand euros per person per bank.

Business lending lets real businesses borrow from you. The platform shows each loan's risk grade, interest rate, loan amount, funding progress, term, repayment frequency, and what secures it. You decide which businesses to lend to and how much. You earn interest on each loan you fund. The money is held separately from your other investments.

Cryptocurrency is fifty coins at live prices. You swap euros into crypto in seconds and back again whenever you want. You can invest from one euro upwards. Crypto prices change constantly, sometimes sharply. The value of your holding will move with the market.

How to think about risk and time

Every investment carries risk. The only true zero-risk option is cash, and cash loses value over time because inflation erodes its buying power. When you invest, you accept the possibility that your money might grow, stay flat, or shrink. The investments with the most potential for growth also carry the most risk of loss. The safest investments grow slowly.

Time matters enormously. Money that sits invested for years can ride out short-term wobbles. Money you need next month should not be invested in anything volatile. Think about when you actually need the money back. If the answer is soon, put it somewhere safe.

Think also about what you can afford to lose. Never invest money you cannot afford to lose. If putting five thousand euros into lending or crypto would keep you awake at night, do not do it. Put it into a fixed-term deposit instead. Your comfort matters. Investfora does not give advice or recommendations. You decide what is right for you.

How to get started

Open an account on Investfora. You will see a reference number in your dashboard. Use that reference to make a bank transfer of at least two hundred and fifty euros. The money usually arrives as Investfora cash within one to three working days. It is never instant. Once it lands and is matched, the cash balance in your account goes up.

From that one balance, you choose what to put it into. You might put half into a fixed-term deposit, a quarter into lending, and a quarter into crypto. Or you might put it all in one place. Each investment is held separately and shown on its own screen. Nothing is invested unless you instruct it. You control everything.

Start small if you are new to this. You do not need to commit everything at once. You can leave money in your Investfora cash balance and invest it gradually as you learn how the platform works and what feels right for you. The first deposit is two hundred and fifty euros. After that, any amount.

What to remember about growing money

Growing money takes time. The longer you leave it invested, the more opportunity it has to work for you. But growth is not guaranteed. The value of investments can go down as well as up, and you may get back less than you put in. Do not expect miracles or quick fixes. Do not invest money you need soon.

Investfora is a platform that lets you choose. It is not a shop that tells you what to buy. You see what is available—deposits, loans, crypto, trading—and you decide. You see the details of each option and you make your own choices. This freedom is powerful, but it means you are responsible for your decisions.

If you want to learn more about automated trading with a personal trading manager, that service is available as a subscription. The price is quoted by your trading manager. Start with the platform itself first, understand how it works, and then decide if that service is for you. Investfora is regulated and supervised by the CNMV in Spain, register number 244.
