How Money Grows Over Time: Why People Invest and How Investfora Works
Investing means putting money to work so it can grow. Here's how the idea works, what you can invest in, and what to think about before you start.
Why money sitting still falls behind
If you keep money in a current account, it does one thing: it stays the same amount. In the real world, things cost more each year. A loaf of bread, a bus fare, a haircut—all drift upwards.
This is why people invest. When you invest money, you put it somewhere it can earn more money. A bank might pay you interest on a fixed-term deposit. A business might pay you interest on a loan you make to it. You might own crypto that rises in price.
Earning money this way takes time. The longer your money stays invested, the more it can grow. This is because growth often builds on itself: money you earn starts earning its own return. But time is only one piece of the puzzle.
Investfora is a platform where you can choose where to put your money. You decide what to invest in, how much goes into each thing, and when to move it. Nothing happens unless you instruct it. This means you are in control, and you can learn as you go.
The trade-off between safety and growth
All investments involve a choice. On one side, there are things that are safer but grow more slowly. On the other side, there are things that might grow faster but could also lose value. There is no middle ground where money is both completely safe and grows a lot.
A fixed-term deposit with a bank is an example of the safer side. You know exactly what interest rate you will earn, and you know exactly what you will get back when the term ends. The money is covered by a deposit-guarantee scheme up to EUR 100,000 per person per bank.
Business lending, crypto, and trading are on the other side of the trade-off. They might grow faster. But they might also fall in value. You could get back less than you put in. The value of investments can go down as well as up.
The right choice depends on you. How much time do you have? How much can you afford to lose? How much uncertainty makes you uncomfortable? There are no wrong answers. But you must answer them honestly before you invest.
The four things you can invest in today
Fixed-term deposits are contracts with banks. You give the bank a sum of money. The bank agrees to give it back at a set date and to pay you interest on the way. The rate is fixed, so you know from day one what you will earn.
Business lending means real businesses ask to borrow money from you. Each listing shows the business's risk grade, the interest rate, how much they want to borrow, how much has been funded, how long the loan runs for, and what secures it.
Crypto is fifty coins at live prices. You can swap euros into any of them in seconds and swap them back to euros just as fast. You can invest fractions from one euro upwards. You own the crypto outright. The value moves with the market, up and down, throughout the day.
Trading is a full trading account with a broker. You can trade currencies, indices, shares, ETFs and commodities on the broker's platform. You use the same dashboard to fund the account from your Investfora cash. The trading platform runs on Windows, Android, or as a web trader that opens inside your account.
How to get started: moving money in
The first step is to open an account on Investfora and verify your identity. Once you have done this, your dashboard shows a unique bank transfer reference. You use this reference to make a bank transfer from your own bank account to Investfora. The first deposit must be at least EUR 250.
When your money lands, it becomes Investfora cash. This usually takes one to three working days from when you make the transfer. You can check your balance on the dashboard. Nothing is invested unless you instruct it. The cash just sits there, earning nothing, until you choose what to do with it.
Once you have cash in your account, you can start investing. Each investment is held separately and shown on its own screen. You can see your fixed-term deposits, each business loan you have made, your crypto holdings, and your trading positions all in one place.
Choosing where to put your money: a practical approach
Start by thinking about your goal and your time frame. Are you investing money you will not need for five years, or money you might need in two years? Do you want steady, predictable returns or are you willing to accept more ups and downs?
Next, think about how much you can afford to lose. If you invested money in business lending and the business failed, could you cope? If you invested in crypto and the price fell by half, would you panic?
Now consider diversification. Putting all your money into one thing is risky because that one thing could go wrong. Spreading money across different investments means one bad outcome does not wipe you out.
Finally, start small and learn. There is no rush. You can start with a fixed-term deposit to see how the platform works. You can make a small business loan to understand how lending works. You can buy a small amount of crypto just to feel how prices move.
What happens after you invest
Once your money is invested, the dashboard shows you what is happening. For a fixed-term deposit, you see the money locked in, the rate it earns, and a countdown to the end date. For business lending, you see the repayment schedule and whether payments are being made on time.
Part of investing is staying informed. You should review your investments regularly. Are they still doing what you expected? Do any of them need attention? For fixed-term deposits, there is little to do: they earn interest on schedule until the term ends.
Investfora does not give advice or recommendations about what to buy or sell. The platform shows you the information you need to make your own decisions.
Remember that the value of investments can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you put in. This is true for all four options. It is not a reason to avoid investing.
The bigger picture
Investing is not about getting rich quick or becoming independent on investment income. It is about understanding that money can work for you, that time and choice matter, and that small decisions made consistently can add up. Some people invest to build a reserve for a future goal.
Investfora exists to make this possible without gatekeepers. You do not need a stockbroker, a financial adviser, or a large sum of money. You need a browser, a bank account, and the willingness to learn. The platform gives you the tools and the information. You make the decisions.
Starting is simple: deposit EUR 250, explore what is available, and choose one small investment. See how it goes. Read your dashboard. Learn how that investment moves. Then make your next decision. The rest follows from there.
