How Money Grows Over Time: The Case for Putting Money to Work
Why sitting on cash costs you, how investment works, and what Investfora lets you do about it.
Why money in a jar goes backwards
If you keep money in cash at home or in a current account that pays nothing, it loses buying power every year. The goods and services you could buy today will cost more next year. Over time, that effect compounds. Money that does nothing is money that falls behind.
This is why people invest. They put money into something that earns a return, so that over time their money grows faster than prices rise.
Investfora is built to let you choose what form that takes. You transfer euros into your account, and from that single balance you decide what to put it into. Nothing moves unless you tell it to. Each investment sits separately where you can see it.
The point is not to get rich fast. It is to give your money a chance to work for you over the months and years ahead.
The power of time: small amounts, long periods
Time is the secret ingredient in how money grows. When something earns a return, that return itself earns a return in the next period. This compounding effect is not magic, but it is powerful. The longer your money stays invested, the more time compounding has to work.
This means you do not need to start with a large sum. Starting small and keeping money invested over years will grow in a way that a lump sum invested for a short time will not.
Investfora's first deposit is EUR 250. After that, you can add any amount, whenever you choose. You might drip money in steadily, or add to your investments when you have spare cash. The point is to start, and then to let time do its work.
Of course, the value of investments can go down as well as up, and you may get back less than you put in. Time helps, but it does not remove risk.
What you can invest in today, and why it matters
Investfora lets you choose from four kinds of investment. Fixed-term deposits are money you place with a bank for an agreed term at a rate fixed upfront. The dashboard shows what you earn each day and exactly what comes back at the end.
Business lending lets you lend directly to real businesses. Each listing shows the interest rate, how long the loan runs, how often you get paid, what secures the loan, and what grade of risk it carries. You choose which businesses and how much of each.
Crypto lets you hold and trade fifty coins at live prices, swapped from euros in seconds. You can start with as little as one euro. The market moves fast, and prices can swing sharply. This is not for money you need soon.
Trading gives you a full trading account with the broker, funded from your Investfora cash. You can trade currencies, indices, shares, ETFs and commodities on Windows, Android or a web platform inside your account. This too is fast-moving and carries real risk.
Why does choice matter? Because different money suits different purposes. Money you need in a few months might go into a short-term deposit. Money you can leave alone for years might go into lending or stocks.
How to think about risk
Every investment carries risk. A bank deposit is backed by a guarantee up to EUR 100,000 per person per bank, but the return is modest. A business loan pays more, but the business might fail to repay.
The right level of risk for you depends on three things. First, how long can you leave the money invested? If you need it soon, you cannot afford big swings in value. If you can leave it for years, you can weather ups and downs.
A sensible approach is to spread your money across different kinds of investment. This is called diversification. If one thing falls in value, the others may hold steady or rise.
Remember that past performance tells you nothing about the future. An investment that has done well may not do well next. Markets change, businesses fail, and prices shift. Think of risk as the price of the chance that your money will grow.
The mechanics: how money gets in and what happens next
When you open an account, your dashboard shows a bank transfer reference. You use that reference to send euros from your bank. The money lands in your Investfora cash balance when the bank transfer has been matched, usually one to three working days after you send it.
Once the money is in your cash balance, you can split it among the four kinds of investment as you choose. If you put money into a fixed-term deposit, that amount earns interest from day one and comes back on the agreed date.
Your dashboard shows you everything. Each investment has its own screen with details of what it is, what it earns, what it is worth now, and what happens next. You can see at a glance how your total cash is spread.
You can withdraw money that is not tied up, or wait for a deposit to mature or a loan to be repaid. You can also reinvest what comes back. The point is that you are always in control of your own money.
Getting started: what to think about first
Before you transfer any money, think about what you want it to do. Is this money for a goal a few years away, or is it just capital you want to put to work over the long term?
Investfora does not give advice or recommendations. It does not tell you what to buy or how much to risk. That is your decision. What Investfora does is let you access the investments you choose and show you clearly what you own and what it earns.
If you are new to investing, start by learning. Read about fixed-term deposits and how they work. Look at how business lending works, what the risk grades mean, and what secures each loan.
Remember that the value of investments can go down as well as up, and you may get back less than you put in. Do not invest money you cannot afford to lose, and do not take on risk you do not understand. Investing is a marathon, not a sprint.
Why this matters now
The gap between doing nothing with your money and putting it to work grows wider over time. The longer you wait, the less time your money has to compound. This is not a reason to rush or to take foolish risks. It is a reason to think about it now.
Investfora makes it straightforward to start. A deposit of EUR 250 is all you need. You control everything. You see what you own and what it earns. You can start small and grow from there. You decide what risk is right for you.
Money grows over time when you give it the chance to. The chance comes from putting it into something that earns a return, and then leaving it there long enough for compounding to work. That is the idea.
