Starting Small: How to Begin Investing with Investfora
A guide to opening an account, understanding your options, and thinking clearly before you invest any money.
Why people invest at all
Most people keep their money in a bank account. The bank holds it safely, and you can withdraw it whenever you need it. But money sitting in a current account does very little.
Investing means putting money into something other than a savings account, expecting that something to work for you over time. That something might earn money, or grow in value, or both. The trade-off is that your money is no longer instantly available, and the value can go down as well as up. You may get back less than you put in.
People invest for different reasons. Some want their money to earn more than a bank account pays. Some want to spread their money across different things to reduce risk. Some are curious about how markets work. None of these reasons is better than another.
Investfora exists because investing should not be complicated or scary. You should understand what you are doing, see exactly where your money is, and be in control of every choice. That is how it works.
How money gets into your account
Before you can invest anything, you need to transfer euros into Investfora. The first deposit must be at least two hundred and fifty euros. After that, you can deposit any amount you choose. You decide how much, and when.
To deposit money, you log into your dashboard and find your unique bank transfer reference. You use that reference to transfer euros from your bank account to Investfora's bank account. It is an ordinary bank transfer, just like paying anyone else.
The money usually arrives and appears in your Investfora cash balance within one to three working days. You will see it on your dashboard as soon as it lands and has been matched to your account. Until then, nothing happens.
Once the money is there, it sits in your cash balance doing nothing until you choose what to do with it. You might put some into a fixed-term deposit, some into lending to businesses, some into cryptocurrencies, or some into trading.
Four things you can invest in today
Fixed-term deposits are straightforward. You give money to a bank for an agreed length of time at an interest rate agreed up front. Your dashboard shows you exactly what you will earn each day and exactly what you will get back on the day it matures.
Business lending means real companies ask to borrow money. Each listing shows you the risk grade, the interest rate they are paying, how much they want to borrow, how much has already been funded, how long they are borrowing for, how often they will repay you, and what secures the loan.
Cryptocurrencies are digital coins traded at live prices. Investfora offers fifty different coins. You can swap euros for any of them in seconds and back again whenever you want. You can start with as little as one euro. The value moves constantly and can fall sharply.
Trading is a trading account with a broker, accessed through the broker's own platform on Windows, Android or web. You can trade currencies, indices, shares, ETFs and commodities. Your trading account is funded from your Investfora cash balance.
Thinking about risk and what you can afford to lose
Every form of investing carries risk. The value of investments can go down as well as up. You may get back less than you put in. This is not a warning to scare you away from investing.
Different investments carry different levels of risk. A fixed-term deposit with a European bank is very low risk. Your money is guaranteed up to one hundred thousand euros by law, and you know exactly what you will earn. Lending to a business is higher risk.
Before you put money into anything, ask yourself: how much could I afford to lose? If the answer is nothing—if you need all of it for rent, food, or emergencies—then you should not invest it.
Think also about time. How long can you leave the money alone? A fixed-term deposit locks your money away, but you know the exact date you get it back. Business loans have set terms. Crypto and trading are short-term by nature, and prices move constantly.
How to start: the first steps
Opening an account takes minutes. You provide basic information, verify your identity, and you are in. You see your dashboard immediately. This shows your cash balance, every investment you hold separately on its own screen, and everything you need to know about each one.
Once your account is open, wait until you have money to deposit. Do not rush. Think about how much you can comfortably afford to transfer, knowing you might not see it again for a while and it might be worth less when you do get it back.
When you are ready, make your first deposit using the reference from your dashboard. Remember, it must be at least two hundred and fifty euros. Wait for it to arrive—usually one to three working days.
Once the money arrives, you still do not have to do anything with it immediately. Look at the options. Read each one carefully. Investfora does not give advice or recommendations.
Questions to ask yourself
Before you invest in anything specific, be clear about what you are doing and why. Ask yourself: am I doing this because I genuinely have spare money and want it to do more than sit in a bank account?
Ask yourself: do I understand what I am putting money into? Can I read the listing or the product description and know what it is? If not, leave it alone. There is no prize for investing in something complicated just to prove you can.
Ask yourself: am I comfortable with the idea that this might not work out? That the value might fall? That I might get back less than I put in? If the answer is no, do not invest. Comfort matters more than returns.
Ask yourself: if this money disappeared tomorrow, would it change my life? If yes, it is not spare money. Keep it safe. Only invest money you could genuinely afford to lose without it affecting your life.
After you have invested
Once you have put money into something, you can watch it on your dashboard. Every investment sits on its own screen with all the information you need. For fixed-term deposits, you see what you will earn each day and when it matures.
You can change your mind. If you have invested in crypto or trading, you can sell whenever you want. If you have a fixed-term deposit, you have to wait until the term ends, but you know the date.
Do not check your balance every day. Markets move. Prices change. This is normal, not a signal to panic or to act. The more often you look, the more you will see small movements that mean nothing.
Remember: the value of investments can go down as well as up. You may get back less than you put in. This does not mean something has gone wrong. It means investing is working the way it always works.
