Income While You Sleep: How Investment Returns Work and Why You Might Want Them

Learn how money can earn without you working, what Investfora offers, and what to think about before you start.

Why people invest money instead of leaving it in the bank

Most people work for their income. You trade your time and effort for wages. But there is another kind of income: money that your money earns, without you doing anything. This happens when you invest.

If you put cash into a bank account that pays no interest, your money stays still. It does not grow or shrink; it simply waits. Many bank accounts work this way. But some investments pay you for lending your money or owning a share of something.

The appeal is simple. You might earn something from capital you already have, rather than only from hours you work. This does not mean you stop working. It means your money can work alongside you. Some people use investment income to add to their salary.

This is why many people invest at least some of their savings. It is not magic, and it is not guaranteed. But it is how wealth grows over time for those who have capital to put to work.

The types of income Investfora lets you earn

Investfora offers four investment types today, and each one can generate returns in different ways. Understanding how each works helps you decide what suits you.

Fixed-term deposits are the simplest. You lend money to a bank for a set period—say six months or two years—at an interest rate agreed at the start. The bank pays you that interest, either in instalments or at the end.

Business lending works differently. Real businesses need to borrow money. They list loan requests on Investfora, showing the interest rate they offer, how much they need, what the loan is for, how long they need it, and what secures the loan.

Crypto and trading are not income in the traditional sense. With crypto, you buy coins at one price and hope to sell them at a higher price later. With trading, you buy and sell currencies, shares, indices, ETFs or commodities through a broker platform.

How money gets into your Investfora account

Before you can invest, you need to fund your account. This is straightforward. You make a bank transfer from your own bank to Investfora, using a reference number shown in your dashboard. The minimum first deposit is EUR 250. After that, you can add any amount you choose.

The money does not appear instantly. It usually takes one to three working days for the transfer to arrive and be matched to your account. Once it does, it sits as Investfora cash in your dashboard. This cash balance is yours. Nothing is invested unless you instruct it.

This is an important point. Your cash does not automatically flow into investments. You see your balance and you decide what to do with it. You might put some into a fixed-term deposit, some into a business loan, some into crypto, and leave the rest as cash.

Choosing where your money goes

Once you have funded your account, you face the real question: where should your money go? This depends on your goals, your risk tolerance, and how much you know about investing. There is no single right answer, and Investfora does not give advice or recommendations. The choice is yours.

Fixed-term deposits are good if you want certainty. You know the rate and the term before you commit. You do not have to monitor anything. The bank does the work, and you collect the agreed return. The downside is that deposits typically offer lower returns than riskier investments.

Business lending offers higher potential returns because it carries more risk. A business might repay on time, or it might default. The listings show a risk grade and the terms, but you have to make your own judgment.

Crypto and trading are for those with more experience and a higher risk appetite. Prices move quickly. You might profit, but you might also lose. These are not income streams in the sense that deposits and lending are. They are speculative bets on price movement.

What to think about before you invest

Before you move your cash into any investment, stop and ask yourself some questions. How much can you afford to invest? How much can you afford to lose? How long can you leave the money there? What do you need it for, and when?

The value of investments can go down as well as up. This is true of deposits, lending, crypto, and trading. Even a bank can fail, which is why the guarantee exists—to protect you up to EUR 100,000 per bank. A business you lend to might default, and you might lose some or all of your money in that loan. Crypto and trading prices swing. None of these outcomes is certain, but all are possible. You might get back less than you put in.

Think about diversification. If you have a substantial sum, spreading it across different investments and different risk levels can reduce the impact of any one failure. A mix of deposits for stability and lending for higher returns is common.

Consider your time horizon. If you need money in three months, a two-year fixed deposit is a poor choice. If you want to earn steady income with minimal effort, business lending might suit you better than active trading. Match the investment to the goal.

The role of AI ForaBot if you want to automate trading

Investfora offers a paid service called AI ForaBot for those interested in automated trading. This is a subscription that includes a dedicated personal trading manager who executes trades on your behalf according to strategies you agree.

ForaBot is not for everyone. It requires an understanding of trading, risk, and markets. It is also a cost, so it needs to generate enough return to justify that cost. The price is quoted by your trading manager, depending on your needs and goals.

If you are new to investing, you do not need ForaBot to start. You can begin with deposits or lending to learn how Investfora works and build confidence. Later, if trading interests you, you can explore it with your own capital or consider ForaBot as a next step.

Getting started: the practical steps

Opening an account takes minutes. You register, verify your identity, and set up your bank transfer details. Investfora is authorised and supervised by the CNMV in Spain under register number 244, so it is a regulated platform for both retail and professional clients.

Once your account is open, you see your dashboard. You generate a bank transfer reference, transfer your first EUR 250 or more from your bank, and wait one to three working days for it to land. When it does, you have cash in your Investfora account.

From there, you explore the offerings. Browse the fixed-term deposits available from European banks. Look at the business lending listings and read the details: rate, risk grade, loan purpose, term, repayment frequency, security. Check the fifty crypto coins and their live prices.

Then you decide. Start small if you are new to investing. Put some into a deposit to feel how it works. Lend to one or two businesses. Buy a fraction of a crypto coin for a euro or two.

Deposit euros when you are ready and choose what they do next. You can start with one thing and add others later.
