How to start trading on Investfora: a practical guide

Trading lets you buy and sell currencies, indices, shares, ETFs and commodities in seconds. Here's what you need to know before you begin.

What trading means, and what you can trade

Trading on Investfora means buying and selling financial instruments quickly, often within minutes or hours, using money from your Investfora cash balance. Unlike a fixed-term deposit, where you agree a term and a rate upfront, or business lending, where you choose individual loans to fund, trading gives you access to live markets where prices move constantly.

You can trade currencies (such as the euro against the pound or dollar), indices (like the FTSE 100 or the S&P 500), individual shares listed on major exchanges, exchange-traded funds or ETFs (which bundle many shares into one instrument), and commodities (gold, oil, and others). The trading happens through a broker's platform that you access from inside your Investfora account.

The prices you see are live, and the trades execute in seconds. You are not buying physical gold or oil; you are trading contracts that move with those prices. This matters because it means you can profit if a price goes up or down, but it also means the risks are real and the losses can be quick.

How to set up a trading account

To start trading, you first need cash in your Investfora account. You transfer euros by bank transfer using the reference shown in your dashboard, and the money lands as your Investfora cash balance, usually within one to three working days. Your first deposit must be at least EUR 250; after that, you can add any amount you choose.

Once your cash is in your account, you can open a trading account by moving some of that cash into the trading section. This funded trading account is separate from your other investments, so you can see exactly how much you have to trade with and track your trading activity on its own screen.

After you have set up the trading account and funded it, you download or open the broker's platform. On Windows or Android, you download the app. On the web, the trader opens inside your Investfora dashboard. You log in with your credentials, and you are ready to place your first trade.

Understanding the costs and risks

Trading is not free. The broker charges you a spread, which is the difference between the bid price (what you get if you sell) and the ask price (what you pay if you buy). This spread varies depending on what you trade; currencies often have tighter spreads than commodities, for example. You may also pay a commission on some trades, depending on the instrument.

The value of investments can go down as well as up, and you may get back less than you put in. In trading, this happens fast. A share price can fall in minutes. An index can drop in hours.

Leverage is optional. Some traders use it to control a larger position with less cash; others avoid it altogether. You set your own leverage, and the platform shows you what your exposure would be before you trade. If you do not understand leverage, do not use it.

A practical approach to your first trades

Before you trade real money, decide how much of your Investfora cash you are willing to risk. Some people set aside one per cent of their total wealth; others use a different figure. The point is to choose an amount that you can afford to lose without it changing your life.

Start by watching the markets and practising on the platform without trading. Get used to how the bid and ask prices move. Understand how to place an order, what a stop-loss is (an instruction to sell automatically if the price falls to a certain level), and how to read the charts.

When you place your first trade, keep it small. Buy one share or a small amount of a currency pair. Watch what happens. If it goes in your favour, you will see your profit appear on the screen. If it goes against you, you will see a loss. Both feelings are important. They teach you how you behave with real money at stake.

Different trading styles and time horizons

Some traders hold positions for months or years, watching long-term trends. Others hold for days or hours, trying to profit from medium-term movements. Still others trade within a single day, buying and selling the same instrument many times. Each style has different costs, different risks, and different psychology.

There is no single right way to trade. The right way is the way that suits your personality, your knowledge, and your time. If you have a full-time job and can only check the markets in the evening, day trading probably will not work for you. If you have strong opinions about where the world economy is heading, longer-term trading might suit you better.

The Investfora platform is available twenty-four hours a day for crypto trading, and during market hours for other instruments. This means you can trade when it suits you, not on anyone else's schedule. Currencies trade around the clock; stocks trade during exchange hours; commodities have their own sessions.

Learning and improving over time

No one is born knowing how to trade. Every trader starts with no experience. The difference between those who improve and those who do not is that the ones who improve keep records. Write down what you traded, why you traded it, what price you entered at, what price you exited at, and what you learned. After ten trades, patterns emerge.

Consider whether you want structured help. Investfora offers AI ForaBot, an automated trading service with a dedicated personal trading manager. It comes as a one-year subscription or a lifetime licence that includes the full course. The price is quoted by your trading manager.

Trading is a skill, like cooking or writing code. You cannot learn it by reading alone. You learn by doing, by making small mistakes on small positions, and by staying curious about why the markets move the way they do. Most of the best traders you will read about spent years learning. Give yourself permission to learn slowly, and to start small.

Before you open a trading account

Ask yourself honestly whether you have the time to monitor your positions. Trading is not passive. If you place a trade and then ignore your account for a week, the market might move sharply against you. You do not have to watch it every minute, but you need to check in regularly.

Make sure you understand the platform before you fund it. Open an account, explore the interface, and watch some trades without money involved. Check that you can see your positions clearly, that you understand how to place an order, and that you know where to find your balance and your profit or loss.

Remember that Investfora does not give you advice or recommendations about what to trade. You make those decisions. You choose what to buy, what to sell, and when. This freedom is powerful, but it also means the responsibility is entirely yours. Start small, keep learning, and trade only with money you can afford to lose.
